Sound contribution of the low frequency underwater noise radiated from a suspension bridge

چکیده

For river crossing bridges, the vehicle-induced vibration can be transmitted to bridge tower and foundation system. This induced low frequency underwater noise radiation cause great harm aquatic organisms. A suspension was selected study sound contribution spatial distribution of noise. bridge-sediment coupling finite element model developed, vehicle-bridge-sediment interaction analysis conducted investigate dynamic response An acoustic built predict radiated from sediment, these two sources compared. The research shows that sediment is below 6.3 Hz, peak around 3.15 Hz. only has a larger total level in its vicinity than especially water surface. In other space, generated through plays dominant role lateral directivity, directivity similar point source.

Underwater radiated noise from modern commercial ships.

Underwater radiated noise measurements for seven types of modern commercial ships during normal operating conditions are presented. Calibrated acoustic data (<1000 Hz) from an autonomous seafloor-mounted acoustic recorder were combined with ship passage information from the Automatic Identification System. This approach allowed for detailed measurements (i.e., source level, sound exposure level...

Evidence of Cnidarians sensitivity to sound after exposure to low frequency noise underwater sources

Jellyfishes represent a group of species that play an important role in oceans, particularly as a food source for different taxa and as a predator of fish larvae and planktonic prey. The massive introduction of artificial sound sources in the oceans has become a concern to science and society. While we are only beginning to understand that non-hearing specialists like cephalopods can be affecte...

Underwater, low-frequency noise in a coastal sea turtle habitat.

Underwater sound was recorded in one of the major coastal foraging areas for juvenile sea turtles in the Peconic Bay Estuary system in Long Island, New York. The recording season of the underwater environment coincided with the sea turtle activity season in an inshore area where there is considerable boating and recreational activity, especially during the summer between Independence Day and La...

Measurement and characterisation of radiated underwater sound from a 3.6 MW monopile wind turbine.

This paper describes underwater sound pressure measurements obtained in close proximity (∼50 m) to two individual wind turbines, over a 21-day period, capturing the full range of turbine operating conditions. The sound radiated into the water was characterised by a number of tonal components, which are thought to primarily originate from the gearbox for the bandwidth measured. The main signal a...

Effect of Underwater Ambient Noise on Quadraphase Phase-shift Keying Acoustic Sensor Network Links in Extremely Low Frequency Band

This study evaluates the impact of underwater ambient noise using seven real noise samples; Dolphin, Rain, Ferry, Sonar, Bubbles, Lightning, and Outboard Motor in three frequency ranges in extremely low frequency (ELF) band. The ELF band is the most significant bandwidth for underwater long-range communication. ELF band which is extended from 3 to 3000 Hz clearly, faces bandwidth limitation. Me...
